I am honored to participate in the "International Arbitration Cross-examination Workshop  " and  "Mini-Pupillage Programme organized by Des Voeux  Chambers and the Shanghai Bar Association in Hong Kong. In the past I never thought that during my legal career I would have the opportunity to intern at the leading and largest law firm in Hong Kong, Des Voeux  Chambers, which has over 100 practicing barristers. But today, this has become a reality. In the past seven days at Des Voeux  Chambers, I have gained new insights and practices every day.

The theoretical lecture on international arbitration procedures, evidence, and questioning skills on October 26, 2024 will be conducted by  barristers  Ling Chun Wai,Connie Lee, Kwan Ping Kan. The main focus is on the use of evidence, document evidence, preparation of oral evidence, process of presenting evidence, and cross -examination techniques in international arbitration. Barrister Howard Wong  gave theoretical lectures on interim measures in international arbitration, mainly focusing on the legal basis of interim  measures and procedural issues related to interim  measures in combination with the latest Hong Kong interim  measures cases. Ian Pennicott, Senior Counsel gave a lecture on cross -examination of factual and expert witnesses. Frances Lok SC and Adrian Lai provide guidance in  the demonstration interactive segment of criminal cases.  On October 27, 2024, the participants conducted Mock Arbitration Case in English.

From October 28 to November 1, 2024, during the internship in John Hui office, under his guidance, I reviewed the case materials arranged by him  and listened to his further explanations. I listening to his telephone  conference between Lwith the British Queen's Counsel to discuss the case , as well as his telephone communication  with his clients.During the few days of observing the trial of the Hong Kong High Court, I learned the judicial etiquette of the Hong Kong court - lawyers and judges bow to each other, and anyone leaving the trial site must bow to the judge.  I witnessed firsthand the professional spirit of  barristers who prioritize clients, their representation in every court case, and their thorough preparation of defense documents.

Thank you very much for  William Wong SC,  his hard work and generous hospitality, as well as his books for each of us.

I am well aware of the gap between myself and barristers. After my internship, I will  continue to learn while handling cases. I hope to be as outstanding as barristers of  Des Voeux  Chambers one day.
